Pakistan Cricket Squad for Asia Cup 2022

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the national squads for the tour of Netherlands and T20 Asia Cup.

 

16 players have been included in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League for the three matches against the Netherlands, while 15 players have been included in the squad for the ACCT20 Asia Cup.

 

Fast bowler Hasan Ali has been replaced by Naseem Shah in the national ODI and T20I squads while Salman Ali Agha has returned to the national ODI squad. Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is included in both the squads but the national cricket team’s physio and trainer will decide on his inclusion in the final eleven after assessing Shaheen Afridi’s rehab in the Netherlands.

Abdullah Shafiq, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Haris, Salman Ali Agha and Zahid Mahmood will return home after playing the series in the Netherlands, while Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed and Usman Qadir will join the national T20 squad in the UAE.

Babar Azam (Captain), Shadab Khan (Vice-Captain), Abdullah Shafiq, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Imamul Haq, Khushdil Shah, Muhammad Haris, Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Wasim Jr., Naseem Shah, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Shah. Afridi, Shahnawaz Dhani and Zahid Mehmood are included.

Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Wasim Jr., Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shahnawaz Dhani and Usman Qadir included.

 

The chief selector of the national cricket team, Muhammad Wasim, says that both the tours are very important, so the best available players have been selected in consultation with the captain and coach. Shah has been included in the national white ball squads for the first time.

 

On the other hand, the training camp of the national players included in the announced squads will be held in Lahore from August 6 to 11. The national squad will leave for Amsterdam on the intervening night of August 11 and 12 from where it will arrive in Dubai on August 22 to participate in the ACCT20 Asia Cup.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced the schedule of the Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan and India teams will compete against each other at the Dubai Cricket Stadium on Sunday, August 28.

 

Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah has confirmed that the complete schedule of the tournament has been announced, the opening match of the mega event will be held on August 27 between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

 

Traditional rivals Pakistan and India will meet each other for the first time after the ICCT20 World Cup 2021, in which the national team defeated the Indian team under the leadership of Babar Azam by 10 wickets.
