When is World Teachers Day 2022?

World Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th October every year. This has been the case since the first observation in 1994.

 

History of World Teachers’ Day

The holiday commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the UNESCO Recommendations on the Status of Teachers in 1966. It sets standards regarding teachers’ rights and responsibilities for initial preparation, further education, recruitment, employment, and learning conditions.

UNESCO’s 2020 message: “With the theme: ‘Young Teachers: The Future of the Profession’, we recognize the critical importance of affirming the value of the teaching mission. We call on governments to make education the first choice profession of young people.” Above all, we celebrate the work of dedicated teachers around the world who strive every day to ensure ‘inclusive and equitable quality education’ and ‘lifelong learning opportunities for all. The promotion of ‘may become a reality in every corner of the world.’

 

The official ceremony will be held on October 7 2022 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
